I´ve been on a fairly decent roll lately while digging through my sneaker boxes and coming across some rare kicks. Some of you may know my affinity for the Nike Cortez model and the large collection of ´em I hold. I wanted to bring to you today a 1999 model, the official colorway is White/Midnight Navy-Varsity Maize. This pair was an official tribute to one of the greatest college basketball teams known to man; the Michigan Wolverines.
These Cortez are made of a very thick leather, sporting a double swoosh. Double swooshes on Nike models were standard during the late 90´s, while shortly after going back to a single swoosh. I love this model because of the hefty, plush lining and great comfort around the ankle. You can´t expect too much out of a Cortez other than a classic silhouette, which is basically all a great shoe ever needs - wouldn´t you agree?
